DNA Information on OUR BREEDERS
Genetic ancestry is unique.
Here’s what you need to know:
DNA testing can provide you with your dog's genetic ancestry. A 100% “single breed” is a DNA result based on our breed reference panel database. This is separate from a “purebred” dog registration granted by a registry.
Purebred registration is based on a set of rules, set by the registry, that might include pedigree verification that the parents are of the same breed and both are registered. Genetic ancestry and purebred registration are not interchangeable. Registration does not rely on DNA testing.
A purebred dog can sometimes share DNA with another breed, such as if a different breed was introduced to the original breed in the recent past. If this happens, you’ll see “mixed ancestry” in your dog’s results. This genetic ancestry result will not change your dog's purebred registration. Purebred status is determined by registries, not Embark.
